Climate Café for NS Archaeology

Concerned about archaeology and climate change? Looking for a way to contribute to the climate change conversation and share insights and ideas?

On November 18, 2024, the Nova Scotia Archaeology and Climate Change Implementation Team will be hosting a climate café. This will not be a formal lecture, but an informal event to discuss climate change and archaeology in small groups. We will be discussing the most affected areas of the province and brainstorming some ideas for what we can do about it.

As part of the event, we are inviting archaeologists to submit some photos or suggest Nova Scotian sites that have been impacted by climate change. These will help focus the discussion, but also provide additional information towards the team’s climate change vulnerability model for known archaeological sites, and list of priority sites. Please send your photos and site suggestions to:
barrmuseum.calp@gmail.com

The event will be held between 6:30pm and 8:00pm at the Lindsay Children’s Room at the Halifax Central Library on November 18th, 2024. It is open to everyone interested (and invested) in climate change and archaeology in Nova Scotia, so feel free to share with your networks. Please also RSVP so that we may have an estimate for arranging catering and room setup.

To RSVP, please respond to barrmuseum.calp@gmail.com
Hope to see you there!
